Mike Thomas Brown on Fighting Jose Aldo: He Felt Like Complete Package

Mike Thomas Brown, on “Beatdown,” discussing UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo:

“I knew he was good. I knew he was good after I fought him, but before that, I was really confident. I thought I was going to beat him. I thought I was going to do the same thing to him that I did to Leonard [Garcia], but when I got in there, it felt different. I could feel he was tough. He had decent power. He was very athletic. I remember getting a good hold of his body, a good hold of his hips and I thought, ‘Oh, I got him.’ I tried to twist him and bodylock him to the mat, but I just felt his hips were very strong and it wasn’t easy to do. He felt very tough. He felt like the complete package. I took that loss and started watching him even more, obviously, after that and I realized yeah, he’s very difficult to beat because not only is he really good at everything, he’s really smart. He’s very cautious. He’s not going to take any risks or any chances. He’s going to do what he has to do to win.”
