This Day in MMA History: Sept. 6

On Sept. 6, 2008, the Ultimate Fighting Championship went to Atlanta for UFC 88 “Breakthrough.” In the main event, Chuck Liddell took on Rashad Evans. Ultimately, it was Evans that won the fight by knockout in the second round.

UFC 88 saw “Fight of the Night” honors go to Kurt Pellegrino and Thiago Tavares. The event had an attendance of 14,736 with an estimated 480,000 pay-per-view buys.
