Few who feel the full force of a Nelson right hand remember the encounter with any clarity. Schaub learned the lesson the hard way. The two heavyweights met in the Season 10 tournament final at the Palms Casino Resort, anchoring an event that featured the organizational debut of reformed boatyard brawler Kevin Ferguson, aka “Kimbo Slice.” Nelson stole the show, as the big-bellied former International Fight League champion cut down Schaub with one of his patented “Big Country” overhands. Schaub controlled the early exchanges with a punishing jab before conceding a takedown. The two heavyweights eventually returned to their feet and Nelson unloaded, connecting with a concussive blow behind the ear that sent an unconscious Schaub crashing to the canvas 3:45 into the first round.
