Featherweights
Robbie Peralta (16-3, 2-0, UFC) vs. Akira Corassani (10-3, 1-0 UFC)
The Matchup: After more than a year and a half away from the cage, Corassani won his Octagon debut in controversial fashion, taking a split decision over Andy Ogle at UFC on Fuel TV 5. “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 cast member was knocked down by his British opponent in round one and spent much of the final frame eating strikes while trapped in the crucifix position. Still, the Swedish fighter had some positive moments, winning his share of standup exchanges thanks to a solid right hand.

Corassani has struggled when grounded by a superior wrestler, but Peralta has only attempted one takedown in his last four outings. A veteran of the Gladiator Challenge promotion, Peralta prefers to be the aggressor in standup exchanges, as evidenced by his 12 career triumphs by knockout or technical knockout. In addition to heavy hands, Peralta knows how to utilize kicks to the legs and body.
While Corassani might not have the knockout power of his foe -- six of his 10 triumphs have gone the distance -- he does throw punches in combination well. If Peralta presses the action, Corassani has shown an ability to work the body in close quarters, as he had some decent success landing uppercuts to the midsection against Ogle.
The Pick: This matchup is likely to be contested almost entirely on the feet, but considering how helpless Corassani looked in the third round against Ogle, it might be worthwhile for Peralta to throw in a surprise takedown attempt or two. Look for Peralta to come out firing and connect with something significant, paving the way for a second-round TKO victory.
