By The Numbers: Bokang Masunyane vs. Koha Minowa

Prime real estate in the One Championship strawweight division will be in play when Bokang Masunyane faces Koha Minowa in a three-round ONE on Prime Video 9 attraction this Friday at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Neither man can afford to give ground in a division now ruled by Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Jarred Brooks.

Masunyane operates out of the Fight Fit Militia camp in South Africa. He started his career 8-0 but finds himself on the rebound following a technical submission loss to Brooks at ONE 156 nearly a year ago. Minowa, meanwhile, has rattled off six victories in seven outings. He has not fought since Jan. 28, 2022, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Brooks at ONE “Only the Brave.”

As Masunyane and Minowa move ever closer to their forthcoming battle at 125 pounds, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

Masunyane owns one other win by submission (12.5%)—he took care of Musaddiq Alli Hasan with a first-round kimura at an Extreme Fighting Championship show in his December 2016 pro debut—and six more by decision (75%).

19: Rounds completed by Masunyane as a mixed martial artist. He has left his fate to the judges on six different occasions and carries a perfect 6-0 record in those bouts.

20: Combined victories between the two opponents—Rene Catalan and Ryuto Sawada—Masunyane has defeated as a member of the ONE roster. They boast a .586 cumulative winning percentage at 20-14-1.

205: Seconds needed for Minowa to put away Hiroto Onishi with a rear-naked choke under the Shooto banner on Dec. 18, 2016. More than six years later, it remains his fastest finish to date.
