By The Numbers: UFC 274 Pre-Fight Edition

A title twin bill will spearhead the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s efforts with UFC 274 on Saturday at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, as Charles Oliveira risks his lightweight crown against Justin Gaethje in the main event and Rose Namajunas defends her women’s strawweight throne opposite Carla Esparza in the co-headliner.

As UFC 274 “Oliveira vs. Gaethje” approaches, a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the card have brought with them:

206: Combined victories between the eight opponents—Paul Felder, Ricardo Lamas, Anthony Pettis, Max Holloway, Frankie Edgar, Cub Swanson, Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller—who have defeated Oliveira. They sport a cumulative .703 winning percentage (206-86-1).

9: First-round finishes on the Gaethje ledger, with three of them having taken place inside the Octagon. The former World Series of Fighting champion buried James Vick with punches in 1:27 at UFC Fight Night 135 on Aug. 25, 2018, punched out Edson Barboza in 2:30 at UFC on ESPN 2 on March 30, 2019 and cut down the aforementioned Cerrone with punches in 4:18 at UFC Fight Night 158 on Sept. 14, 2019.

2: Companies for which Namajunas has plied her mixed martial arts trade. She has gone 9-3 in the UFC and 2-1 in Invicta Fighting Championships.

10: UFC assignments in which Esparza has executed multiple takedowns. She carries an 8-2 record in those bouts, having lost split decisions to Randa Markos at UFC Fight Night 105 and Claudia Gadelha at UFC 225. Esparza’s 42 takedowns landed as a strawweight rank first on the organization’s all-time list at 115 pounds.

44: Seconds needed for three-time Bellator MMA champion Michael Chandler to punch out David Rickels at Bellator 97 on July 31, 2013. One of four sub-minute stoppage victories on the High Ridge, Missouri, native’s resume, it remains his fastest finish to date. Chandler sets his sights on Tony Ferguson in a three-round lightweight feature.

550,000: Dollars’ worth of post-fight bonuses banked by Ferguson across his 19 outings inside the Octagon. “El Cucuy” has been awarded “Fight of the Night” on six occasions, “Performance of the Night” three times, “Knockout of the Night” once and “Submission of the Night” once.

21: Mauricio Rua victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 78% of his career total (27). His list of victims includes Alistair Overeem (twice), Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, Lyoto Machida and Quinton Jackson. Rua rematches Ovince St. Preux in a three-round light heavyweight showcase.

14: Consecutive calendar years in which St. Preux has fought at least once. The Strikeforce veteran went 0-2 in 2008, 3-2 in 2009, 6-0 in 2010, 2-1 in 2011, 1-0 in 2012, 2-0 in 2013, 3-1 in 2014, 1-1 in 2015, 1-2 in 2016, 3-0 in 2017, 1-2 in 2018, 1-1 in 2019, 1-2 in 2020 and 0-1 in 2021.

37: UFC appearances for Cerrone, placing him third on the promotion’s all-time list. Only Miller (39) and Andrei Arlovski (38) have been credited with more. Cerrone toes the line against Joe Lauzon in a three-round lightweight attraction.

17: Lauzon wins by submission, accounting for 61% of his career total (28). His methods of choice: five rear-naked chokes, four armbars, three triangle chokes, one heel hook, one ankle lock, one guillotine choke, one Achilles lock and one kimura.

26: Years of age for Melissa Gatto. The youngest fighter on the card, she was born on May 2, 1996 in Campinas, Brazil. Gatto puts her undefeated record on the line against Dana White’s Contender Series graduate Tracy Cortez in a three-round women’s flyweight prelim.

.752: Cumulative winning percentage between the 30 fighters booked to compete at the event. They boast a combined record of 501-159-6. Cerrone holds the most wins (36) of anyone on the card and shares the lead for the most losses with St. Preux (16).
