By the Numbers: UFC on Fox 19

Glover Teixeira is gradually climbing back into contention in the light heavyweight division.

The Brazilian slugger made short work of Rashad Evans in the UFC on Fox 19 headliner at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., on Saturday night, knocking out “The Ultimate Fighter 2” winner 1:48 into the opening stanza of their 205-pound clash.

That makes three straight Octagon triumphs for the 36-year-old Teixeira, who also finished Patrick Cummins and Ovince St. Preux during his current winning streak. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC on Fox 19, with statistics courtesy of FightMetric.com.

3: Consecutive strawweight triumphs for Rose Namajunas, who outpointed Tecia Torres in Saturday’s co-main event. That ranks as the second-longest active winning streak in the 115-pound division behind only reigning champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (five).

1,007: Days since Torres earned a unanimous decision triumph over Namajunas in their first meeting at Invicta Fighting Championships 6.

45: Total strikes by which Torres outlanded Namajunas in Saturday’s bout. “The Tiny Tornado” outlanded her foe 29 to 16 in round one, 29 to 23 in round two and 35 to nine in round three. She also held a 61 to 46 advantage in significant strikes landed. Namajunas, meanwhile, landed the bout’s only two takedowns.

71: Significant ground strikes landed by Khabib Nurmagomedov, tying him for the ninth-most ever landed in a UFC bout. Nurmagomedov defeated short-notice foe Darrell Horcher via technical knockout 3:38 into the second round of their catch-weight bout. All told, “The Eagle” held a 75-to-6 edge in significant strikes landed.

12: Featherweight victories in UFC/WEC competition for Cub Swanson, who outpointed Hacran Dias in a featured 145-pound clash. That figure ties him with Chad Mendes for the second most in the history of the two promotions. Jose Aldo is No. 1 with 15 triumphs.

2: Knockdowns landed by Swanson in victory, one with a left hand in round two and the second via head kick in the third frame.

83: Significant strikes landed by Swanson, tied for the second most of his UFC/WEC tenure. His best of 87 came in a five-round victory over Jeremy Stephens in June 2014. Dias, meanwhile, landed 55 significant strikes.

5: Submission victories for Michael Chiesa, tying him with Urijah Faber for second-most in the promotion since 2012 behind only Charles Oliveira (six). Chiesa submitted Beniel Dariush with a rear-naked choke 1:20 into the second round of their lightweight encounter.

5: Tapouts via rear-naked choke for Chiesa, tying him with Demian Maia for the most via that maneuver in UFC history. Only Kenny Florian (seven) has submitted more opponents with the hold.

4: Women’s bantamweight triumphs for Raquel Pennington after she defeated Bethe Correia via split decision. That ties her for fourth-most in the history of the division. Only Ronda Rousey (six), Miesha Tate (five) and Amanda Nunes (five) have more.

13: Media scorecards, of the 17 tracked by MMADecisions.com, that scored the bout for Pennington, who also got the nod from two of the three cageside judges. Pennington had previously dropped split verdicts to Holly Holm and Jessica Andrade in the Octagon.

1: KO/TKO loss in 22 professional fights for Court McGee, who was stopped by Santiago Ponzinibbio 4:15 into the first round of their 170-pound tilt. McGee’s previous four defeats all came via decision.

.840: Significant striking accuracy for John Dodson, who landed 16 of 19 strikes in a 47-second demolition of Manny Gamburyan in his first bantamweight appearance since his Octagon debut in December 2011.

14:16: Total cage time for Oluwale Bamgbose in his first seven professional fights, all of which ended inside of a round.

15:00: Octagon time for Bamgbose on Saturday, when he lost a unanimous decision to Cezar Ferreira in a preliminary middleweight clash.

36: Significant clinch strikes landed by Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos in his third-round technical knockout victory over Omari Akhmedov at welterweight. All told, the Brazilian held a 72-to-36 advantage in significant strikes landed.
