Infographic: Professional Fighters League Season 1 Middleweight Playoff Standings Update

With Thursday’s PFL 6 in the rearview, the Professional Fighters League middleweight season standings are all but sewn up, with seven of the eight playoff spots confirmed by the promotion.

The runaway standings leader is Abusupiyan Magomedov, who enjoys a wider lead than any other divisional top seed in PFL. The Dagestani, who lives and trains in Germany, is also one of only four fighters to net the maximum 12 points by finishing both of his regular-season opponents in the first round. Of the three other 2-0 middleweights on the season, Louis Taylor merits mention. The 39 year-old Chicagoan who once went by the nickname “Handgunz” and now calls himself “Put The Guns Down” occupies second place in the rankings and continues his quietly impressive late-career run, going 5-1 since joining World Series of Fighting in 2016, with the only loss during that span coming at the hands of former two-division champ David Branch.

From here, it remains to be see how PFL will adjudicate the eighth and final playoff spot. Aug. 30 represents the final regular season card and will presumably be filled with make-up fights for fighters with only one regular season bout. It is unknown at this time whether PFL will attempt to book eighth-place Sadibou Sy on that card, simply award a playoff berth to the Swedish kickboxer or do something else entirely.
