By The Numbers: UFC Fight Night 125
Lyoto Machida did just enough to send the Brazilian fans home happy.
“The Dragon” edged Eryk Anders via split decision in the UFC Fight Night 125 main event in Belem, Brazil, on Saturday, ending a three-fight skid for the former light heavyweight champion. While scorecards in the middleweight bout will certainly be up for debate, there is plenty elsewhere to examine as well.

five-round contest. “The Dragon” outlanded his foe 15 to 2 in round
one, 14 to 6 in round two, 10 to 9 in round three, 10 to 6 in round
four and 13 to 9 in round five.

54: Significant clinch strikes landed by Timothy Johnson in a unanimous decision triumph over Marcelo Golm at heavyweight. Golm, meanwhile, landed 32 significant strikes in the clinch. Overall, Johnson outlanded Golm by a 77-to-59 count.
8: KO/TKO victories for Thiago Santos, tying him with Anderson Silva for most in the history of the UFC middleweight division. The Brazilian earned a technical knockout victory over Anthony Smith with a body kick and follow-up punches 1:03 into round two of their entertaining featured bout.
4: KO/TKO victories stemming from kicks for Santos, tying him with Edson Barzoa and Vitor Belfort for second most in UFC history. Donald Cerrone is No. 1 in this category with six such finishes. In addition to Smith, “Marreta” has stopped Jack Marshman, Steve Bosse and Ronny Markes with kicks.
67: Total strikes by which Santos outlanded Smith. That figure included one knockdown each in rounds one and two.
4: Consecutive victories for Santos, tying him with Antonio Carlos Junior for the second-longest active winning streak in the UFC middleweight division. Champion Robert Whittaker is first with seven straight triumphs.
4: Finishes in a row in UFC competition for Santos. That is the third-longest active finishing streak within the Las Vegas-based promotion. Brian Ortega and Mairbek Taisumov are tied for No. 1 with five straight finishes.
129: Significant strikes landed by Tim Means in a split-decision loss to Sergio Moraes in a preliminary welterweight tilt. By comparison, Moraes landed 87. “The Dirty Bird” outlanded his opponent 28 to 20 in round one, 43 to 29 in round two and 58 to 38 in round three.
13: Unofficial media scorecards, of the 14 tracked by MMADecisions.com, that awarded the fight to Means. Unfortunately for the FIT-NHB representative, judges Phillipe Iorio and Tony Weeks saw things differently, as both gave Moraes 29-28 tallies.
9: Takedowns landed in 15 attempts for Alan Patrick Silva Alves in a unanimous decision win over Damir Hadzovic. That included a whopping six takedowns in round one for the Brazilian, who has landed a total of 19 takedowns during his current three-fight winning streak.
8: Bantamweight victories for Iuri Alcantara following his first-round technical knockout of Joe Soto. That ties him with Renan Barao and Takeya Mizugaki for fourth most in UFC history at 135 pounds. Only T.J. Dillashaw (11), Urijah Faber (10) and Raphael Assuncao (10) have more.
9-2: Record for Brazilian fighters on Saturday night. The only two local favorites to end the night in defeat were Priscila Cachoeira and Marcelo Golm.
