Juan Adams vs. Shawn Teed

Round 1

Teed rushes forward with a combination. In an ensuing exchange, Teed lands a straight punch. Adams settles in and works behind his jab and tags Teed with his lead hand. Adams lands a series of about 10 straight punches to the head near the fence before Teed finally circles out of danger. Adams gets his opponent down in the center of the cage and drops some ground-and-pound before allowing Teed to stand. Teed shoots for a takedown and pushes Adams against the fence. Adams lands punches as he defends the shot and Teed drops to his back. Adams continues to drop punches from above and Teed rolls for a heel hook. Teed rolls a couple times but Adams eventually slips free and transitions to side control. Teed is on all fours now, and Adams methodically picks his spots to land punches. Teed falls to his back near the cage, and Adams continues to batter his foe with punches and elbows. Teed give up his back, but Adams can’t quite secure the rear-naked choke. Teed rolls over to his back once more, and Adams drops some even more purposeful ground-and-pound from mount. Referee Mark Smith finally steps in to halt the bout just as Teed taps to the strikes.

Jordan Griffin vs. Maurice Mitchell

Round 1

The right hander Mitchell lands a smacking kick to the body of his southpaw foe. A straight left from Griffin knocks Mitchell’s mouthpiece out. He seems unfazed, and the action resumes once Mitchell gets the mouthguard back in. Griffin catches Mitchell with a left hook as he comes in. A straight right from Mitchell puts Griffin on his heels briefly, and Mitchell goes on the attack. The Team Alpha Male clinches with Griffin and lands an elbow on the break. Griffin drops low for a takedown and Mitchell secures a brabo choke. It looks tight, but Griffin uses his legs to walk up the cage and escape the predicament. Mitchell lands another hard straight right and follows up with a body kick moments later. Mitchell feints a punch and connects with yet another body kick. That seems to light a fire under Griffin who swarms Mitchell with punches. A left hook drops Mitchell as he circles away and Griffin immediately pounces for a rear-naked choke. It gets tight quickly and Mitchell taps in a matter of moments.

Ian Heinisch vs. Justin Sumter

Round 1

Sumter counters a Heinisch low kick with a right hand. Sumter lands a hard inside low kick, using his reach advantage. Sumter lands a glancing right hook, followed by an uppercut. Heinisch comes in with a flying knee and is taken down by Sumter. Sumter is working from inside guard, and Heinisch briefly tries to lock in a guillotine. He lets its go and Sumter lands a couple short elbows. Heinisch attempts to frame an armbar from his back. He gives up on it and Sumter transitions to his back. Sumter can’t get both hooks in, and Heinisch reverses into top position with a little more than 2:00 to go. Heinisch lands about three elbows while staying heavy on top. Another big elbow opens up a cut on Sumter’s face. Moments later, Heinisch ups the intensity of his ground-and-pound, and he rocks Sumter with one elbow, knocks him out cold with another and dislodges his opponent’s mouthpiece with a third before referee Jason Herzog can intervene to halt the bout.

Don'Tale Mayes vs. Mitchell Sipe

Round 1

Sipe comes out swinging for the fences and they clinch. Sipe keeps swinging recklessly and Mayes clips him with a punch. Sipe shoots for a takedown in an attempt to clear the cobwebs. He gives up on the attempt and the heavyweights go back to trading in the center of the cage. Sipe lands a couple low kicks. Mayes steps in with an elbow but gets taken down after attempting an ill-advised flying knee. Sipe works from side control near the fence, and he drops a couple elbows before Mayes stands. Mayes is bleeding from the side of his head, and Sipe makes his foe stumble with an outside leg kick. Sipe lands a kick to the cup and referee Mark Smith calls time to give Mayes a chance to recover from the low blow. The action resumes with a little less than 2:00. They trade in close quarters but the most significant blow is an accidental clash of heads. Sipe changes levels and shoves Mayes into the fence. Mayes is bleeding profusely now as Sipe grinds away. Sipe lands a knee to the body before they separate. Sipe lands a kick to the head that makes Mayes stumble, but he seems to be OK. They close distance and clash heads again. Sipe shoots for a single-leg takedown and Mayes defends it against the fence as the round ends. 10-9 Sipe.

Round 2

Sipe pressures forward with a kick to the body and a head kick. Sipe lands a winging right hand but can’t follow up. An outside low kick lands for Sipe. Mayes whiffs on an uppercut and Sipe answers with an overhand right before pushing his foe into the fence. Mayes turns off the fence and they trade in close quarters. Neither lands anything significant. Both heavyweights appear to be fatigued halfway through the frame. Mayes catches Sipe coming forward with a stepping elbow and it opens his foe up instantly. Sipe now has a cut over his left eyebrow that’s bleeding badly. Time is called so the cageside doctor can examine the wound. The action resumes and Sipe begins landing low kicks. Mayes counters with a left uppercut and Sipe drops for a takedown. Mayes stuffs it and begins landing ground-and-pound as Sipe turtles up. Mayes isn’t quite in full mount, but he’s pounding away with punches and elbows and the cut is just leaking. Mayes moves to full mount with about 30 seconds left, where he continues to land methodical offense. Sipe’s defenses are gradually weakening, and finally, Mayes earns the stoppage on his crimson-smeared foe.

Roosevelt Roberts vs. Garrett Gross

Round 1

Roberts takes the center of the cage and lands a leg kick. Roberts throws a right hand and Gross changes levels for a takedown. Roberts grabs a hold of his opponent’s head but Gross is able to slip free. Gross shoves his man into the fence, but Roberts turns around and drops for a takedown. He slams Gross to the canvas from a rear-waistlock and lands in side control. Roberts lands a couple lefts and an elbow from half guard. Roberts hunts for the guillotine, then fires off an elbow. Roberts remains in control, landing short shots to the body. Gross fights to work his way up, but Roberts connects his hands and slams his adversary back down. Roberts stands and drops more punches before clearing Gross’ legs. Roberts clears some space and lands some punches and elbows. He’s able to grab Gross’ neck again but can’t get the choke before the round expires. 10-9 Roberts.

Round 2

Gross comes out aggressively and punches his way into the clinch. He pushes Roberts into the fence only to get planted on his back. Roberts passes from side control into mount. Roberts maintains heavy top pressure and traps Gross’ right arm with his knee, clearing the way for a brief flurry of ground-and-pound. Roberts postures up and lands more punches from mount, forcing Gross to give up his back. Roberts seizes the opportunity and locks in a rear-naked choke. Gross taps shortly thereafter, giving Roberts his sixth finish in as many MMA appearances.
