Elsewhere, Dan Hooker received a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award for his spectacular second-round knockout of Ross Pearson in a featured lightweight scrap. After a competitive opening stanza, “The Hangman” caught his opponent ducking low behind a left hand and connected with a perfectly timed knee to the jaw that knocked out Person’s mouthpiece. The “TUF 9” winner collapsed to the canvas, and Hooker landed one follow-up hammerfist before the contest was halted at the 2:02 mark of round two.
Finally, Ben Nguyen captured the evening’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus thanks to a surprisingly quick submission of former flyweight title challenger Tim Elliott in a featured bout. After an ill-advised head-and-arm throw by Elliott, Nguyen scrambled to his opponent’s back and quickly locked in a rear-naked choke to force a tapout 49 seconds after the contest began.
