The Coronavirus Chronicles: Vitor Belfort

When his third stint with the Ultimate Fighting Championship ended after nine years, Vitor Belfort set out in search of a different path for himself. The 43-year-old believes he has found what he was looking for in One Championship, and it has filled him with renewed purpose in the twilight of his career.

“I’m very excited to go and compete with good competitors and do something different and do something that will bring the [attention from fans],” Belfort told Sherdog.com. “One Championship really was the platform that matched up with the vision that I have for the sport. I really want to do something different, and I think there could not be a better place where they really are doing different stuff.”

In this exclusive interview with Sherdog, Belfort discusses his forthcoming One Championship debut, his desire to bring a new “boxing-martial arts” rules set to the organization, his opposition to bareknuckle fighting, his friendship with former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Dave Bautista and the future of his Florida gym in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
