Bellator Fighting Championships -- now Bellator MMA -- went to New Orleans for Bellator 28. The card took place on a Thursday and was the first card with no tournament bouts for the promotion.

The card did not draw well in terms of attendance or ratings due to the fact it was on the same day and in the same city as the 2010 NFL season opener that pitted the New Orleans Saints against the Minnesota Vikings.
