Twenty-five minutes were not enough for Michael Chandler and Benson Henderson to settle their differences in Bellator MMA. Rounds 6-8 are right around the corner.

“Iron Mike” will rematch Henderson in the Bellator 243 headliner this Friday at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, with the winner perhaps establishing himself as the No. 1 contender in the lightweight division. Their first memorable encounter resulted in a contentious split decision—48-46, 48-47, 46-48—for Chandler in November 2016.

Chandler has been a promotional cornerstone for the better part of a decade. He has compiled a 17-5 record under the Bellator flag, his run highlighted by three lightweight title reigns. The Sanford MMA representative was an NCAA All-American wrestler at the University of Missouri, where he captained the team for three seasons. Chandler last competed at Bellator 237 in December, when he knocked out Sidney Outlaw with punches 2:59 into the first round of their pairing in Saitama, Japan.

A former Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting titleholder, Henderson has quietly pieced together a four-fight winning streak since he suffered a controversial loss to Patricky Freire in 2017. The MMA Lab standout still wields one of the sport’s most impressive resumes at 155 pounds, highlighted by victories over Frankie Edgar (twice), Donald Cerrone (twice), Gilbert Melendez, Nate Diaz and Josh Thomson. Henderson has not fought since he took a unanimous decision from Myles Jury at Bellator 227 on Sept. 27.

As Chandler and Henderson prepare for their rematch, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

34: Years of age for Chandler, who was born in High Ridge, Missouri, on April 24, 1986.

4: Sub-minute finishes on the Chandler resume. He submitted Salvador Woods with a rear-naked choke 59 seconds into their Strikeforce “Heavy Artillery” tilt on May 15, 2010, tapped Chris Page with a guillotine choke 57 seconds into their Bellator 32 clash on Oct. 14, 2010, put away Akihiro Gono with punches 56 seconds into their Bellator 67 confrontation on May 4, 2012 and knocked out David Rickels with punches 44 seconds into their Bellator 97 scrap on July 31, 2013.

7: Chandler wins by submission, accounting for more than a third of his career total. He owns four victories by rear-naked choke, two by arm-triangle choke and one by guillotine choke.

3: Turns as Bellator lightweight champion for Chandler. He held the lightweight crown from Nov. 19, 2011 to Nov. 2, 2013, from June 24, 2016 to June 24, 2017 and from Dec. 14, 2018 to May 11, 2019.

.841: Cumulative winning percentage between the four men—Eddie Alvarez, Will Brooks, Brent Primus and Patricio Freire—who have defeated Chandler. Brooks remains the only fighter to beat him twice.

36: Years of age for Henderson. He was born on Nov. 16, 1983 in Colorado Springs.

14: Henderson wins by decision, accounting for exactly half of his career total. They include split verdicts over Edgar, Melendez, Thomson, Adam Piccolotti and Jorge Masvidal.

6: Countries in which Henderson has competed as a mixed martial artist. He has gone 21-8 in the United States, 3-0 in Canada, 1-0 in Ireland, 1-0 in Hungary, 1-0 in South Korea and 1-0 in Japan.

1: Fighter who has defeated Henderson twice. Chandler now has the opportunity to join Anthony Pettis with that distinction.

97: Seconds needed for Henderson to put away Allen Williams with punches at Victory Fighting Championship 18 on Feb. 16, 2007. Having taken place in the John Crouch protégé’s second professional appearance, it remains the fastest finish of his career.
