By The Numbers: UFC on ESPN 59 Pre-Fight Edition


Rose Namajunas will once again attempt to establish a true foothold in the Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s flyweight division when she does battle with Tracy Cortez—a short-notice substitution for Maycee Barber—in the UFC on ESPN 59 main event this Saturday at Ball Arena in Denver. Meanwhile, American Top Team’s Santiago Ponzinibbio sets his sights on Muslim Salikhov in the three-round welterweight co-headliner at 170 pounds.

As UFC on ESPN 59 “Namajunas vs. Cortez” approaches, a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the docket bring to the table:

300,000: Dollars in post-fight bonuses banked by Namajunas across her 16 appearances in the UFC. The Milwaukee native has been awarded “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night” three times each.

32: Rounds started by Cortez as a mixed martial artist. The Fight Ready export has gone the distance on nine different occasions and carries a perfect 9-0 record in those bouts.

16: Ponzinibbio wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 55% of his career total (29). His list of UFC victims: Alex Morono, Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson, Court McGee, Andreas Stahl and Wendell de Oliveira Marques.

40: Years of age for Salikhov. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born on June 9, 1984 in Buynaksk, Russia.

9: Knockdowns landed by Elevation Fight Team’s Drew Dober as a UFC lightweight, placing him sixth on the promotion’s all-time list at 155 pounds. Only Melvin Guillard (13), Donald Cerrone (11), Michael Johnson (11), Dustin Poirier (10) and Edson Barboza (10) have been credited with more. Dober faces Jean Silva in a three-round lightweight showcase.

15: Seconds needed for Silva to punch out Lorenzo Rodrigues under the Aspera Fighting Championship banner in his Nov. 19, 2016 pro debut. More than seven years later, it remains his quickest stoppage to date.

3,248: Days spent by Gabriel Bonfim as an undefeated fighter. He took care of Kleuve Santos with a second-round triangle choke when he debuted at an Acai do Japa Fight show on Dec. 13, 2014 and rattled off 15 straight wins before he succumbed to knees and punches from Nicolas Dalby at UFC Fight Night 231 on Nov. 4, 2023. The Dana White’s Contender Series graduate locks horns with Ange Loosa in a three-round welterweight attraction.

4: Countries in which Loosa has plied his mixed martial arts trade. The Kill Cliff Fight Club representative has gone 3-3 with one no contest in the United States, 4-0 in Switzerland, 2-0 in France and 1-0 in Russia.

13: Julian Erosa victories by submission, accounting for 45% of his career total (29). His methods of choice: four brabo chokes, three triangle chokes, three armbars, one guillotine choke, one bulldog choke and one rear-naked choke. Erosa puts Christian Rodriguez to the test in a three-round featherweight feature.

54: Significant strikes by which Rodriguez has outlanded the opposition during his current four-fight winning streak. The Roufusport prospect has connected on 169 such strikes while absorbing only 115 in return against Joshua Weems, Raul Rosas Jr., Cameron Saaiman and Isaac Dulgarian.

7: Sub-minute finishes on the Abdul Razak Alhassan resume, with three of them having taken place inside the Octagon. He punched out Charlie Ward in 53 seconds at UFC Fight Night 99 on Nov. 19, 2016, punched out Niko Price in 43 seconds at UFC 228 on Sept. 8, 2018 and cut down Alessio Di Chirico with a head kick in 17 seconds at UFC on ESPN 30 on Aug. 28, 2021. Al Hassan tackles Cody Brundage in a three-round middleweight appetizer.

6: Consecutive calendar years in which Brundage has fought at least once. In addition to his 0-1 mark in 2024, the Factory X standout went 4-0 in 2019, 1-1 in 2020, 1-1 in 2021, 2-1 in 2022 and 2-2 in 2023.

22: Years of age for Joshua Van. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born in Hakha, Myanmar, on Oct. 10, 2001. Van toes the line against former Legacy Fighting Alliance champion Charles Johnson in the featured flyweight prelim.

.759: Cumulative winning percentage between the 24 mixed martial artist slated to compete at the event. They sport a combined record of 324-102-2. Ponzinibbio and Erosa are tied for the most victories (29) among fighters on the card, while Dober has been saddled with the most losses (13).
