TOTAL NUMBER OF UFC FIGHTS: 6,272
TOTAL NUMBER OF UFC EVENTS: 576

The Ultimate Fighting Championship put on a shortened show for its European fanbase, with a Fight Night event putting some promising Euro talent on display. The midday event managed to deliver with several wild finishes, pleasing striking fans and grappling aficionados alike. UFC Fight Night 191 featured a rare “punking,” a brutal kick that destroyed a foe’s leg and a pair of mid-round finishes producing peculiarities in the numbers.

Push the Over/Under: Not one but two bouts on this nine-fight offering ended at exactly 2:30 of a round. This double 2:30 stoppage occurrence is the first to take place at any event in UFC history. Every UFC bout that has been stopped at the exact midpoint of a round has come in the first two rounds.

Father’s Day: Four fighters’ fathers served as corners for their sons at this event: Jack Shore, Luigi Vendramini, Modestas Bukauskas and Tom Aspinall. Shore’s and Aspinall’s sons emerged victorious, although Aspinall’s dad cornered Darren Till as well.

A New Derek: In the third round, Derek Brunson submitted Till to win his fifth bout in a row. The nine finishes for Brunson tie him with Nate Marquardt and Chris Leben for the second most in UFC middleweight history. Only Anderson Silva (11) holds more.

An Unlikely Recordholder: Since debuting with the promotion in 2012, Brunson has rattled off 14 victories. Only one middleweight in UFC history has won more fights than Brunson – along with Silva and Brad Tavares: ex-champ Michael Bisping prevailed 16 times.

Your Daily Punking, Sir: Stepping up on short notice to take on Tom Aspinall, Sergey Spivak got ”punked” by his opponent, failing to land a knockdown or takedown, attempt a submission or even score a single significant strike.

Tommy Terrific: Aspinall put Spivak away at the midpoint of Round 1 to retain his flawless 100% finish rate. The Brit is currently riding a seven-fight stoppage streak, with no victory taking longer than 6:09 to achieve.

Career-Ender: For the first time this year, a UFC fighter chopped down an opponent with leg kicks. Khalil Rountree wrecked Modestas Bukauskas’ leg with a side kick to the knee to put an end to the match. Light heavyweights account for the highest number of leg kick stoppages in UFC history along with welterweights, tied for the most of any division.

Welcome to Paddy’s: In a comeback performance, Paddy Pimblett scorched Luigi Vendramini with punches to earn his first UFC victory. “The Baddy” now celebrates a career finish rate of 76%, with 10 of his last 12 wins coming inside the distance.

Meatball Money: After three hard rounds, Molly McCann defeated Ji Yeon Kim by unanimous decision, and the two pocketed “Fight of the Night” bonuses for their effort. Win or lose, each of the last six bouts for “Meatball” have gone 15 full minutes, while Kim has seen six of her last seven go the distance.

Tanking the Opposition: Taking a decision over Liudvik Sholinian, Wales’ Jack Shore is now a perfect 15-0 as a pro. “Tank” earned just his third win on the scorecards in doing so, but it was his second in a row.

A Scary Quartet: Hitting a brabo choke on Charles Jourdain to secure the win, Julian Erosa is now the fourth fighter in UFC history to land this choke on more than one opponent. Vicente Luque, Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier have all achieved this feat in the past.

Juice Worth the Squeeze: Of all the brabo chokes pulled off throughout organization history, Erosa is the only one to do so more than once in the third round or later. “Juicy J” previously tapped Sean Woodson with one at 2:44 of Round 3 in 2020.

Never Say Never Again: Coming into UFC Fight Night 191, Vendramini (11 fights) and Kim (14 fights) had never dropped consecutive bouts, Jourdain had never been finished (15 fights) and Dalcha Lungiambula had never been defeated on the scorecards (13 fights).

It’s Quiet, Too Quiet…: Echoing his Sherdog 2020 “Walkout Track of the Year”-winning performance of using silence as his walkout selection, Till did so again before meeting Brunson. Both of those entrances have been followed by defeats.

Couldn’t Make Him Say Matte: Although many fighters throughout UFC history have used songs from the movie “Bloodsport” such as “Fight to Survive,” none had ever selected its score music of the final match between Frank Dux and Chong Li. David Zawada did so before facing Alex Morono, but came up short on the scorecards.

Our Ship’s No Longer Safe: Countering his opponent’s track from “Bloodsport,” Morono rocked the house with the pirate metal tune of “Zombies Ate My Pirate Ship” by Alestorm. This marked the second time he had used a track from their band, and on both occasions, he has gotten his hand raised.
