Karate Combat: Abdalla Ibrahim Hopes Win in Hollywood Gets Him Chance to Avenge Loss

Abdalla Ibrahim made his debut at Karate Combat: Miami, where his first-round knockout of Josh Quayhagen was a highlight. The dominant victory quickly made him a fan-favorite of the full combat karate league. However, he wound up losing a decision in his next fight to Gustavo Dionosio at the promotion’s “One World” event. That's a bout he would like to get a second chance at.

Before he does that, he has to get through Josh Brown in the co-main event of Karate Combat: Hollywood, which is set to take place on Jan. 24. While still focused on the task at hand, Ibrahim is openly talking about his former foe. “I’m going to dig hard until I get this guy again,” said the martial artist. “It’s about revenge for me.”

The addition of a title seems to have all the fighters motivated for their upcoming fights. Ibrahim not only believes that a win against Brown will get him the rematch he wants but believes it could be for Karate Combat’s Golden Belt.

Outside of competition, Ibrahim is humble. When speaking about his Karate Combat career, he believes his toughest opponent is actually himself. When preparing for fights, he puts his mindset in combat mode and visualizes the struggle of training as if it were his upcoming fight and pushes through.

Ibrahim’s passion for what he does is apparent. He loves karate and challenging other practitioners on this unique platform. While the Karate Combat is a new idea, he doesn’t see it as a disadvantage since “no one is used to it.” He admires the creativity that he’s seen other fighters come up with during their fights. Ibrahim recalled one impressive moment from the New York City event, “One guy used the wall to do a jump kick, that was really cool.”

As far as his bout with Brown goes, Ibrahim doesn’t seem to have any specific game plan. Instead, he’ll simply adapt during the fight and will use what his opponent gives him.

Karate Combat: Hollywood takes place on Jan. 24, and will air on karate.com, its Android and iOS apps and Roku channel, along with partners including Twitch, YouTube, Dailymotion, FITE, Pluto TV, Eleven Sports, The Fight Network, Facebook Live, UFC Fight Pass and more.
