Ashley Greenway vs. Sunna Rannveig Davidsdottir

Round 1

Davidsdottir marches forward with a punching combination and works her way into the clinch. Greenway separates and lands a spinning backfist. Davidsdottir gets the clinch again but Greenway turns her opponent. The two strawweights continue to battle for position in the clinch. Greenway tries to execute a throw but Davidsdottir denies it and tags Greenway with a right hand. Greenway lands a kick to the body and Davidsdottir answers with a flurry of punches. Greenway lands a low spinning back kick. Davidsdottir cliches with her foe and then lands a punch on the break. The Davidsdottir marches forward with punches, then dodges a spinning backfist. Davidsdottir continues to be the aggressor, moving forward with punching combinations and forcing her way into the clinch. 10-9 Davidsdottir.

Davidsdottir dominated Greenway.
The fighters exchange kicks and Greenway tumbles to the canvas. She’s up and Davidsdottir presses her foe into the fence. Now she has a rear body lock on the American and she muscles Greenway to the floor. Greenway’s left elbow is temporarily trapped, and Davidsdottir gets both hooks while in back control. The Iceland native is fishing for the rear-naked choke but Greenway defends well. Davidsdottir is landing left and right hands on a turtled Greenway, then goes back to hunting for the choke. Davidsdottir now has a body triangle as she continues to work ground-and-pound from back control.

Greenway is able to shrimp her way out of the position, but now Davidsdottir is in side control. Greenway quickly reverses the position and the fighters are back up. Davidsdotttir lands a low kick then pushes Greenway into the fence, landing a few short left hands as time expires. 10-8 Davidsdottir

Round 3

Davidsdottir lands a low kick followed by a right hand. Davidsdottir connects with a left hook. Greenway is applying pressure with low kicks and jabs but isn’t landing much as of yet. Greenway catches a body kick and shoves Davidsdottir away. Greenway throws an ill-advised spinning back fist, allowing Davidsdottir to take her back and drag her to the floor. Davidsdottir is in side control now, but Greenway uses the fence to force scramble and escape to her feet. Davidsdottir tags Greenway with a crisp straight left. Davidsdottir finds a home for a few jabs while Greenway whiffs on another spinning back fist. Davidsdottir is mixing in low kicks with her punches well as she maintains control in most of the exchanges. Greenway lands a decent left hand, but Davidsdottir backs her up with a hard right hand. Davidsdottir sprawls on a takedown attempt and ends the stanza landing ground-and-pound on the American. 10-9 Davidsdottir (30-26 Davidsdottir)

Amber Leibrock vs. Amy Coleman

Round 1

Leibrock handed Coleman a beating.
Leibrock is the aggressor early as she throws a flurry of punches. Coleman engages in the clinch but absorbs some hard knees to the body from Leibrock for her troubles. Coleman has a right underhook and lands a knee to the body before throwing her opponent to the floor. Leibrock quickly uses the cage to work her way back up. Coleman maintains heavy pressure in the clinch. Leibrock lands a straight right hand off the break and now they’re back in the center of the cage. Leibrock lands a right hand and avoids Coleman’s attempt to clinch. Coleman lands an outside leg kick. Leibrock reponds by marching forward with punches.

Coleman ties her up again and Leibrock unloads with a rapid fire barrage of knees to the ribs and body. Coleman crumples to the canvas in pain, and Leibrock follows her to the floor, landing a series of unanswered punches to earn the stoppage.

Julia Jones vs. Stephanie Skinner

Jones tapped Skinner with an RNC.
Jones beings the action with a series of outside leg kicks. Skinner counters with a kick to the body. Skinner catches a kick and lands a right hand. Jones in turn catches a kick from Skinner and pushes her opponent down, landing a couple elbows in guard. Skinner is framing an armbar, however, and Jones is in full defense mode now. Jones attempts to posture up and pull away. She finally pulls her arm free and goes to work in Skinner’s half guard. Jones lands a few left hands followed by hard elbows. Skinner is eating the shots and gives up her back in response.

Jones slides her left arm around Skinner’s chin, then slips hit under her foe’s neck and cranks for the rear-naked choke. A few moments later, Skinner taps out.

Tiffany Van Soest vs. Kalyn Schwartz

Round 1

chwartz takes the center of the cage then quickly rushes in and takes Van Soest down near the cage. Schwartz pins Van Soest against the cage and lands some solid shots as the muay Thai stylist works her way back up. Schwartz is attached to her foe’s back and she briefly has one hook in. Van Soest tags Schwartz with a left as they separate. Schwartz wastes little time before shooting for another takedown. It takes some doing, but Schwartz muscles Van Soest back down. Van Soest is attempting to push off the cage. After a scramble, Schwartz lands a belly-to-back suplex and quickly transitions for a rear-naked choke. Schwartz tightens the squeeze and gradually works to flatten her foe out. Van Soest escapes briefly but Schwartz goes right back to the maneuver. This time Schwartz has a body triangle as she hunts for the submission. Schwartz breaks the hold and lands some right hands before going back to the choke. With less than a minute to go, Van Soest turns into guard and stands. Van Soest buckles Schwartz with a right hand, and Schwartz shoots for a takedown out of desperation. She slams Van Soest to the ground. The period ends with Van Soest attempting an armbar from her back. 10-9 Schwartz

Schwartz spoiled Van Soest's return to MMA.
Schwartz opens with a kick to the body of Van Soest. Van Soest answers with a high kick, and Schwartz drives for a single leg against the fence. Van Soest fends it off and lands a knee and a right hand as they disengage. Schwartz takes Van Soest’s back after a failed spinning attack. After some hard ground-and-pound, Schwartz is fishing for the rear-naked choke again. Schwartz isn’t quite under the chin with her arm yet but she’s still squeezing. Schwartz leans back and applies even more pressure. She graudally works her arm under the neck, and Van Soest can’t hold out any longer. The muay Thai star, in visible distress, finally taps out.

Manjit Kolekar vs. Kaline Medeiros

Round 1

Medeiros takes the center of the cage and begins stalking her opponent. Kolekar lands a couple outside leg kicks as she circles away. Medeiros closes the distance, picks up Kolekar and slams her to the mat. Medeiros is in half guard as she begins to work. The Brazilian moves to side control. A scramble ensues, and now Kolekar winds up in her opponent’s half guard. Kolekar stands. Medeiros quickly gets up and lands another takedown. Kolekar is up quickly as well, and the Brazilian presses her foe to the fence. They separate and move back to the center of the cage. Kolekar tries a superman punch and Medeiros catches her and slams her down. Medeiros is in side control. Kolekar rolls and Medeiros punishes her with punches from back control. Medeiros stays attached to the back, landing punches to the head. The Brazilian gets both hooks in and now she postures up and lands heavier ground-and-pound from back mount. Kolekar doesn’t stay in one position, and she manages to defend herself well enough to make it through the round. 10-9 Medeiros

Round 2

Medeiros closes the distance and eats a punch from Kolekar before forcing the clinch. They separate quickly and return to the center of the cage. Medeiros misses a spinning back kick. Medeiros feints her way in but misses an uppercut. Medeiros continues to stalk her Indian opponent. Kolekar counters with a hard kick to the body. Medeiros lands a right to the body and the head, then follows with a kick to the body. Medeiros misses a high kick and a spinning back fist, then resets. Medeiros misses the same combination again but follows with a level change for a takedown. Kolekar works to defend, but Medeiros is able to elevate her foe and get her down. Medeiros briefly has mount, then gets an armbar in a scramble, but Kolekar escapes and gets up. The round ends with Medeiros pressing Kolekar against the fence. 10-9 Medeiros.

Medeiros was too much for Kolekar.
Kolekar opens with a clean left hand to the mug of Medeiros. Medeiros quickly shoots and slams her foe down again. Kolekar reverses the position and returns to her feet. Medeiros resumes her stalking as Kolekar circles left. Both fighters are throwing single shots, with nothing significant landing. Medeiros is struggling to completely cut off the cage, but Kolekar isn’t landing much in return. Medeiros with a kick to the body. Kolekar with a nice kick of her own. Frustration is starting to register on Medeiros’ face with a little more than a minute to go. Medeiros finds the range on a right hook. Medeiros fakes a shot, then lands a coupe right hands.

The Brazilian lands a kick to the body and then Kolekar circles away as the horn sounds. 10-9 Medeiros (30-27 Medeiros).

Irene Aldana vs. Faith Van Duin

Round 1

Aldana finished Van Duin in the first.
Van Duin is aggressive, rushing forward and attacking with one-two combinations early. Aldana is able to reset and take the center of the cage after initially being on her heels. Aldana lands a right hand, then lands a two-punch combo that backs Van Duin into the cage. Van Duin breaks her foe’s momentum with a counter right. Aldana tags Van Duin with a right hand. Aldana presses forward and is landing combinations against the fence. Van Duin falls to the floor near the fence, perhaps hoping the Mexican fighter will go into her guard. Van Duin is back up, but Aldana is in control now.

Van Duin lands an inside leg kick and follows up with a hard right that lands clean. Van Duin catches Aldana coming forward with another right. Van Duin is finding the range on counter right hands consistently now. Aldana sticks a jab. Aldana’s movement has been slowed somewhat by Van Duin’s right hand. But now Aldana picks up the pace and she’s pressuring Van Duin with punches near the fence as the round ticks down. A rapidly fading Van Duin continues to absorb damage, drops to the floor and curls up. Aldana unloads with standing to ground blows and earns a stoppage just before the horn sounds.

Invicta FC Atomweight Title Fight:
Ayaka Hamasaki vs. Jinh Yu Frey

Round 1

Hamasaki counters a Frey leg kick with a sharp right hand. Hamasaki dives for a takedown but Frey is able to defend it. Hamasaki drives her foe against the fence, but Frey is able to turn her opponent after Hamasaki throws a right hand. Hamasaki lands a takedown, but Frey has a butterfly guard and quickly creates separation to get up. Frey lands an inside leg kick, then a kick to the body. Hamasaki lands a right hand then enters the clinch. Frey transitions to Hamasaki’s back. Hamasaki is working to break Frey’s grip. Now she is isolating Frey’s arm from the standing position. They fall to the canvas and Frey settles in mount. Now she’s pounding away with punches and hammerfists. Frey traps Hamasaki’s left arm and continues the assault. Hamasaki rolls and looks to escape through the back door. Frey secures both hooks but she’s too high and is beginning to slip off the top. They end in that position, with Frey perhaps looking to transition to an armbar as time expires. 10-9 Frey

Hamasaki busted Frey open.
Hamasaki lands a jab. Frey answers with a right hand. Hamasaki catches a kick and takes Frey down. Hamasaki postures up in Frey’s full guard and lands a couple punches. The Japanese champion stacks her foe, but Frey is eventually able to push Hamasaki away and stand up. Frey connects with a counter right hand as Hamasaki moves forward. Frey tags her foe with a hard right hook. Hamasaki dives for another takedown, then transitions for a throw, but Frey thwarts the efforts. Frey is attacking the legs at distance now. Frey lands a left hook, then follows up with a kick to the body. Hamasaki lands a straight right. Frey with an outside leg kick, then gets countered by a Hamasaki right hand. Hamasaki lands a hard straight right and then wobbles Frey with a big follow-up right hand over the top.

The second punch instantly opens a nasty gash above Frey’s left eye. Hamasaki rushes forward to capitalize, but the bout is halted so a doctor can examine Frey. The cut is very deep and right above Frey’s eye, so the doctor calls off the bout, much to the disappointment of both fighters. Hamasaki will retain her atomweight title.

Invicta FC Flyweight Title Fight:
Jennifer Maia vs. Roxanne Modafferi

Round 1

Modaferri begins with a jumping kick out of the corner that’s well short of its mark. Maia lands a right hand in an exchange. Maia pushes forward with a punching combination. Modaferri misses a spinning back fist. Maia again forces the action with a combination upstairs. Nothing powerful lands, but the Brazilian is connecting. Modaferri lands a right hand, then an outside leg kick. Maia tags Modaferri with a left hand. She clinches with the “Happy Warrior” and looks for a takedown against the fence. Modaferri spins off the fence and Maia lands a couple punches. The Brazilian pushes Modaferri back against the cage and lands a knee. Modaferri breaks away but eats an uppercut as they separate. Modaferri lands a kick to the body and follows up with some punches. Maia staggers Modaferri backward with a hard right in an exchange. Maia connects with a one-two combination followed by a high kick. She clinches with Modaferri again, and they end the round jostling for position against the cage. 10-9 Maia

Round 2

Maia lands a knee and an uppercut as she forces Modaferri backward. Modaferri is throwing probing left kicks to the body. Maia counters Modaferri with a right hand. Modaferri returns fire with a solid right of her own. Maia is in pursuit and lands a jab and a right hand. Maia is countering successfully with one-two combinations now every time Modaferri attacks. Modaferri ducks for a takedown and gets it. Maia quickly reverses into top position and settles in Modaferri’s guard. Modaferri is staying busy from her back, landing moderate punches and elbows while trying to frame a triangle. Modaferri turns for the armbar, but Maia is defending well so far. Maia is out and Modaferri takes top position in a scramble. She’s in half guard and working to pass with less than 30 seconds to go. Modaferri ends the round in full mount briefly and lands some ground-and-pound as the horn sounds. 10-9 Modaferri.

Maia narrowly retained her title.
Maia lands a right hand. Modaferri connects with a nice right hand. Maia is unfazed and she tags Modaferri with a hard combination. Modaferri with a beautifully timed level change on a Maia punch and gets the takedown. Maia has an arm-in guillotine, however. Modaferri pops her head free and begins throwing elbows in her opponent’s guard. Modaferri postures up and lands some more powerful elbows, but that allows Maia to trap her foe’s arm. Modaferri escapes and tries to take the back in a scramble. That doesn’t work and Maia is on top in Modaferri’s guard.

Modaferri is setting up an armbar near the cage with less than a minute to go. Modaferri abandons the hold but switches to an armbar on the other side but she doesn’t have enough time to finish it. 10-9 Modaferri.

Round 4

Maia lands two uppercuts in close quarters. Modaferri goes back to the body kick. Maia shrugs off a takedown and lands some dirty boxing. Maia lands a combination that forces Modaferri to circle away and reset. Maia lands a three-punch combination. The Brazilian catches Modaferri with a jab coming in. Maia is upping the volume in this round, consistently landing combinations. Modaferri goes tumbling backward and Maia lands standing to ground punches. Modaferri is up and Maia continues to throw punches in volume. A one-two combo briefly sends Modaferri backward. Maia has found her range, and she continues to land jabs and right hands. Maia digs with a nice right to the body. Modaferri dives for a takedown but Maia stuffs it and ends up on top. Maia has her foe trapped in a crucifix. Modaferri is saved by the bell before any further damage can be done. 10-9 Maia.

Round 5

Maia is throwing with more volume earlier on, and she tags Modaferri with a left. Modaferri moves forward, but she is countered by a two-piece combination. A mouse has formed underneath Modaferri’s eye. Maia with a jab, then backs away and lands a right. Modaferri connects with a spinning elbow. Maia counters a kick with a one-two combo. Maia stalks Modaferri and lands a two-punch combination. Maia catches a kick and throws hard right hands but nothing lands before the combatants disengage. Modaferri is going to the well often with spinning punches, but she’s not landing. Maia remains disciplined with her straight punching combinations. Modaferri is staying aggressive, but Maia is countering effectively. Maia sprawls on a takedown with about 30 seconds to go and they stand. Maia continues to counter as Modaferri presses the action. Maia lands an uppercut and finishes the contest with a push kick as time expires. 10-9 Maia (48-47 Maia)
