K-OZ Entertainment Bragging Rights 6 Results

(PRESS RELEASE) – Perth, Australia (July 31, 2013) The cold rainy weather on Saturday July 27th didn't stop Perth, WA fans from attending Bragging Rights 6 at Kingsway Indoor Stadium. K-OZ Entertainment had a weaker than usual fight card due to unforeseen fighter injuries from both the main event and co-main event. The fights still excited the crowd with only 2 out of 9 fights going to decision, 2 by KO and 5 Submissions. Bragging Rights 6 was held in a boxing ring for the first time because of a recent Western Australia ban on the use of a cage in mixed martial arts.

Ringside commentary by MMA fighter Jesse Taylor , Steven Kennedy, and Soa Palelei added to the excitement of the event as it streamed live on Sherdog.com. UFC memorabilia was auctioned during intermission. Special guest “Suga” Rashad Evans was in attendance to watch the fights and sign autographs as fans enjoyed a live music performance by Virgin Records recording artist Che’Nelle, with her brand new single “Its Happening Again”.

In the main event Joe Muir out maneuvered his last minute replacement Brogan Anderson of New Zealand by avoiding all takedown attempts from the submission specialist. With only seconds left in the first round Muir controlled the match with a series of strikes to get the TKO win. Muir was originally matched with K-OZ Light Heavyweight Champion Sam Brown. Unfortunately, Brown was forced to withdraw from the bout due to and injury from a torn ligament in his elbow during training camp.

After capturing the K-OZ Interim Light Heavyweight Title, Joe Muir agreed to fight Brown. The two light heavyweights exchanged a few friendly words and the fight will take place at Bragging Rights 7. K-OZ director Grady Stewart announced that the winner will most likely face former UFC top contender Keith Jardine at Bragging Rights 8. Jardine’s management and K-OZ Entertainment are currently in talks to set up the super fight somewhere in Australia.

The highlight of the night was the featherweight match between Dan Jones and Nate Jones. The two martial artists were originally set to compete for the K-OZ Featherweight Title, however both fighters missed their weight. Nate Jones landed a vicious hook that dropped Dan Jones. Nate Jones made a nice attempt to capitalize on this advantage, however Dan Jones scored a takedown. In the struggle for position, Nate Jones was discharged from the boxing ring and landed on the judge’s table. Dan Jones won by split-decision.

Ben Nguyen scored a submission victory over Shantaram Maharaj with a rear naked choke in the third round. Chris Indich dominated Dominic Harrison-Campbell and submitted Campbell with a rear naked choke in round 1. In the amateur bouts, Perth native Mitch O’ Dowd submitted Luke Armstrong by arm bar in the first round. In the first ever women’s bout to take place in Western Australia, Rachel Sheridan scored a split-decision win over European wrestling champion Pia Rosenkranz. The two kept busy throughout 3 rounds with a series of non-stop strikes, head kicks, and submission attempts. David Jenkins defeated Hassani Soidrou by armbar in round 1. Luke Hammond won TKO victory in round 1. And Luke Jones defeated Sean Bow by rear naked choke in round 1.

K-OZ Entertainment manager Steven Arredondo would like to thank the Sherdog.com Team for their continued support and for showing up to the event. Bragging Rights 6 is currently available for viewing at /events/KOz-Entertainment-Bragging-Rights-6-Night-of-Titles-31357
