XFCinsider Spotlight: Stephen Bass Looks To Reel In Title Shot With Win In Albuqurque

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Everyone has a “Big Fish” story, right? Every angler tells a tale about the one that got away. On September 6th, Albuquerque fight fans will have their own “Big Fish” story to share. But this time he won’t get away, he’s going to climb into the cage, and take part in an electrifying opening bout LIVE on AXS TV. At XFC 25: Boiling Point, Stephen Bass makes his highly anticipated XFC debut when he takes on promotional veteran Farkhad Sharipov for their shot at the Featherweight #1 contender position.

Stephen Bass (10-1) started his professional career with an amazing 10 fight win streak. After debuting in January of 2007, Bass didn’t taste defeat until 2011, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Marcus Brimage at The Ultimate Fighter: Season 14 Finale. The 30 year old Featherweight took some much needed time off following the Brimage loss, and he now looks to start the next chapter in a fight career that’s far from over.

With fifty percent of his wins coming by way of tap out, Stephen Bass could be seen as a submission specialist, however, the Savannah, Georgia fighter also holds a Golden Gloves Championship in South Carolina. Because of his well-rounded arsenal, opponents are left to pick their poison when facing Bass; he is a threat on the canvas or in the stand up game. The “Big Fish” brings an aggressive offense and impressive resume into his XFC 25 match up, with the equally seasoned Farkhad Sharipov. But Bass, a long time construction worker, will need every tool in his belt to do a job that no other man has been able to do; finish Sharipov.

XFC President John Prisco had this to say, when asked about Stephen Bass: “We were very excited to sign Stephen Bass and have him compete in our Featherweight Tournament. We didn’t just sign Stephen for what he has done in the past, but more for what he could do in the future. I really think he has all the tools to not only win a championship in this sport, but hold a title and defend it. He keeps his opponents guessing, he has crisp striking that has to be respected. If you choose to take the fight to the ground to avoid his hands, then you have to deal with an equally deadly submission game. Albuquerque and all our fans watching around the World are in for a show anytime Bass steps in the XFC cage over the coming years!”

Stephen Bass and Xtreme Fighting Championships invade the Albuquerque Convention Center, in beautiful Albuquerque New Mexico, for XFC 25: Boiling Point on September 6, 2013. The event is presented by ICRealTime Security Solutions, and ThroatPunch Ind. Apparel. The event will be broadcast live on AXS TV, beginning at 10 pm eastern.
